Auchroisk distillery, (pron. Othrusk), started producing in 1974. A major contributor to some famous blends, it is seldom seen as an independently bottled whisky. The awkward name derives from the gaelic meaning “shallow ford across the red stream” which relates to the nearby Mulben burn. This single cask Auchroisk 1990, selected by Berry Bros. & Rudd, expression has a classic Speyside style nose with plenty of fresh ripe melon skin, well woven sweet barley and balancing oak. The palate is silky and mouth-watering, driven by pear juice and apple acidity. The finish is long and perilously moreish.
