A splendid single malt from Caol Ila, released as part of French indie bottler, La Maison du Whisky's Chess Investigation Series! This expression was distilled in 2007 and matured until 2021, including a generous four years finishing in a first-fill sherry butt. Packing plenty of rich fruit and smoke, why not have a game of chess and mull over your next move with a dram of this? We also like to imagine the Chess Investigation department existing in a town of chess pieces, chequering out all the local crimes and making sure everyone stays in their square.
