A bitter Italian liqueur, Cynar is made from a base of herbs and plants, including artichoke, from which it takes its name (the Latin for artichoke being cynara scolymus). Richly flavoured and with a dark amber colour, it can be served both as an aperitif and after a meal. The brand has belonged to the Campari group since 1995.
