An enjoyable BenRiach, a class above the Original Ten (and the 46% helps too). The smoke gives this dram a distinct character, with sweet notes and gentle peat.
Category | WHISKY |
Brand | BENRIACH |
Country/Region | SCOTLAND |
ABV | 46% |
Nose | Starts with a light to medium savoury smoke, with some old dutch cheese and even some bbq-scents. Custard, vanilla cookies, and caramel appear, together with some lemons, pears and an aerthy note of hessian. It has a green / plastic edge too. An intruiging nose for sure! |
Palate | A peatier but still rather light smoke on the front. The mouthfeel is velvety soft, with citrus fruits and apples. Pineapple and cane sugar allude to the rum casks used. |
Finish | Sweet lemons, honey, ginger, pepper and a slight whiff of sulphur lead the way. The smoke slowly increases in intensity in the background. Becomes a bit fizzy, not unlike 7up, with a hint of flowers too |
